1989 In Brief

Dance Outs

First May Day morning sunrise, at Chesterton Windmill with Hereburg Morris;  first of the (continuing) St George's Day dances with Rose & Castle Morris; our first fund raising day - doing Red Nose Morris for Comic Relief, followed by one for Amnesty International.  On a less altruistic note, we start a precedent by spending £50 of the side's money on drink for the Christmas Party.

We move practice down to the upstairs room at the Fleur de Lys, where Derek is landlord - presumable whilst Eydon Village Hall is being refurbished?

We offer an eight-week Adult Education night class in Morris Dancing, taught by Professor John Cannell, but due to poor publicity, it doesn't take off.

Comings - and Goings

More new members: Over winter Marjory Coveney, Mary Braybrook, Mary Wilkinson and Richard Tidmarsh join.  I also have notes of an Adrian (?), and Pat and Penny (Marys' friends?) who also joined at that time but didn't go on to dance out with us.

During the year, Pam Russell joins, then brings along her neighbour Jacqui Bennett.
